Incident: The Rock Creek Fire started on August 20, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. of unknown origin and is under investigation. Location: 5 miles south of Red Lodge, along U.S. Highway 212. Agency Jurisdiction: USDA Forest Service, Custer and Gallatin National Forest Cooperating Agencies: Red Lodge Fire Rescue, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, Carbon County DES. Incident Management: Under unified command, Shawn Pearson’s Northern Rockies Type 2 Incident Management Team (IMT) with Red Lodge Fire Rescue. The Incident Command Post (ICP) is located at the Carbon County Fairgrounds in Red Lodge, MT. Current Size: 900 acres Containment: 20% Structures Threatened: 114 EVENING UPDATE: Pockets of fuel burned within the fire perimeter. Helicopter bucket drops took place throughout the day to cool hot spots.
